BACKGROUND
Teams need transcripts and action items, but most AI notetakers upload audio to the cloud. That creates privacy, compliance, and cost risk—especially in legal, healthcare, defense, and executive settings. Northlight was built as a cross-platform desktop app (macOS, Windows, Linux) so capture, transcription, and summaries stay on the user’s infrastructure by default.

Deliver meeting intelligence without sending sensitive audio or transcripts to a third-party SaaS.

- Run speech-to-text locally with Whisper / Parakeet, including live transcript updates
- Support local LLMs (Ollama) and bring-your-own API keys for summaries
- Keep the product usable offline, on-prem, and in GPU-accelerated environments

SOLUTION
We shipped a local-first workflow: dual-source audio capture with VAD mixing, on-device transcription, and pluggable summarization. Users can import existing audio, re-transcribe with another model or language, and generate structured notes—summary, decisions, and action items—without a meeting bot.

Our Point of View
Meeting AI should not require giving up data sovereignty. Northlight treats on-device transcription and customer-controlled models as the default, not an enterprise add-on.
